CEO's Message

July 2007

Thomas C. MacMillan, president and chief executive officerWelcome to CIBC Mellon,

On July 1, 2007, Mellon Financial Corporation merged with The Bank of New York to form a global financial services company with tremendous size, scale and scope, The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation.

We are very pleased and excited about this transaction. The Bank of New York Mellon is:

  • The global leader in asset servicing with more than US$18 trillion in assets under custody and administration.
  • The global leader in corporate trust services with US$11 trillion in outstanding debt.
  • The leading stock transfer agent in the U.S.

These extensive leadership positions in our three core lines of business reinforce the commitment to our joint venture and our clients.  Combining these strengths with CIBC’s position as a leading North American financial institution, we will continue to go forward and partner with our parent companies and clients to:

  • Leverage the strengths of CIBC and The Bank of New York Mellon to develop and deliver industry-leading asset servicing, stock transfer and corporate trust products and services to the Canadian market.
  • Identify and implement processes, procedures and structures that mitigate risk, meet regulatory and compliance requirements, and protect the privacy of our clients and our employees.
  • Provide leadership and involvement in industry initiatives and organizations for the purpose of client advocacy and the overall strengthening of the asset servicing, stock transfer and corporate trust industries in Canada and North America.

We are very pleased to go forward with these opportunities and areas of focus; continuing to lead proactively and demonstrating our commitment to be our clients most valued business partner.
