Important Message Regarding Delays with CRA Tax Slip Information

Please be advised there is a known issue with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) loading tax slips information to My Account. CIBC Mellon submitted the electronic tax slips information to the CRA in February, however, the CRA is continuing to upload a backlog of employer files to their system.

The CRA has posted a notice in their Personal Income Tax section, granting relief for late filing penalties on information returns such as T4 and T4A. For more details, visit the CRA website under “Update on the filing of information returns.”

In the meantime, you can complete your tax return using the hard copy of your slips by manually inputting the information into tax software.

Please note the 2024 tax slips were mailed out mid-February. If you require duplicate tax slips, please fill out the form to request your address update or request a duplicate tax slip.

Please continue to monitor the CRA website for additional information on the delays being updated to My Account.

Protect Yourself Against Identity Theft

Please be aware that some of our clients’ pension plan members have received calls from people claiming to be from CIBC Mellon asking to validate their direct deposit information for their pension payments.

If plan members initiate a change in banking information, CIBC Mellon may call the member to validate the change.

If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from CIBC Mellon and you did not initiate a bank account change or any other change, it is likely a phishing scam.

We encourage you to err on the side of caution. If you feel the call is suspicious in any way, simply hang up and call us back at 1-800-565-0479 or 1-519-873-2218.
